Young Climate Prize
"What started as local beach cleanups in San Francisco has grown into a global network of young people dedicated to mitigating the effects of climate change on their futures. Covalence Global serves as a virtual home for young people in the fight against climate change and was founded by Sophia Tabibian and Lulu Goulet-Hofsass. Sophia and Lulu are amongst the youngest of our 25 under 25!"
Our Purpose
Covalence Global's purpose is to foster "covalent bonds" by building a global community of youth leaders combating climate change. We create a dynamic workspace for youths to take action on the world's most prevalent climate change issues.
We empower.
Honesty, respect, and responsibility are the core foundations of Covalence Global. We seek to empower and promote each others' work. If our core values - honesty, respect, and responsibility - are ever violated, we take effective measures to address the issue at hand.
Action is our goal.
Taking action is our ultimate goal, and we believe the three-step process of learning, sharing, and building is crucial to reaching it.
Learn - We challenge ourselves to develop a deeper understanding of climate issues and consider multiple perspectives.
Share - We encourage respectful debate and discussion.
Build - We strongly emphasize the importance of building on what we learn and share. We believe that learning and sharing are crucial, and building is the essential ingredient for working towards action.
Every time we have a youth network Zoom meeting or host an event, we close by considering, How can we utilize what we just learned and shared about to take action?
Our Story
Previously, Covalence was a locally focused organization. We were a small community service group of around 10 members. We worked to purify the Bay Area's waters through weekly beach cleanups. We picked up around 500 pounds of trash. However, we now seek a global vision that reaches multiple communities and tackles bigger problems. This is how Covalence Global was born.
